Ideas/Questions/Creations
There is much much more to a person than product. We are our ideas, inspirations, questions and bodies. We can expand, think, share and create well beyond where we have been. I look forward to new adventures and collaborations.
Let’s talk about creating something new together.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I believe that choreography is the primary medium and language for conveying complex ideas. I believe experiencing a live work is not always comfortable. It is about the conveyance of an idea in a multitude of ways through movement, details, expression and relationships between movers and the audiences’ experience: visually, sonically and spatially.
I build on ideas and themes that impact our everyday lives, each piece is like starting over - looking at things through a new lens. I infuse every work with immense detail, which leads to complex and dense choreography and an opportunity for myriad viewers to find personal interest, connection, and impact in my work.
I focus on conveying the complexity of ideas such as loss, redemption, power, mental illness, identity and sexuality. I work with collaborators from many different disciplines. My feeling is that properly integrated, any art form can support and enhance dance as a primary medium of communication. I believe that music/sound/words should be Seen, before, and after they are Heard and can both echo and foreshadow ideas, and motifs.
Creating my work is less about what it “feels” like on the body; it is about an expressive body, which is not always comfortable. I build multi-layered choreographic works with each layer containing a deeper description and expression of unique aspects of the impetus for the work. I ingrain subtext or unspoken, inferred shadow (often depicted as gestures and facial expressions), which is my own deep emotional connection to the issue. I strive to imbue each work with the color, shadow and light of the issues it addresses, thereby leaving a trail of emotions, ideas and content.
The concept for each new work is an opportunity to push myself creatively as I feel evolution of artistry is imperative.
Most recently my work, has focused on collaborating with traditionally non-performative art forms including, tattoo artists, sculptors, hip hop poets, filmmakers, photographers, fashion designers, and digital and video artists. I strive to appropriately honor each art form in depicting them working live during the performance.
